"Black Mondo Grass" (Ophiopogon nigrescens) is one of the most attractive evergreen groundcovers for year round interest. Lovely pink blooms in June, are followed by shiny black berries that complement the foliage. Makes a great border edge, or mass planting. Grows in sun or even in dense shade, drought tolerant, & even does fine with root competition. We plant it intermixed with purple & yellow crocus, the flowers are breathtaking against the black foliage, & by mid summer the crocus foliage has disappeared into the black grass. | Epimedium rubrum "Fairy Wings" is a beautiful easy care free groundcover for shade or partial shade. Looks lovely along a path where its delicate heart shaped foliage tinged in red with sprays of cherry red flowers. Eye catching as they dance with every breeze. Virtually maintenance free except they should be cut down to the ground in early spring. Very drought tolerant once established and quite deer resistant.Plant around 18 inches apart and in two seasons they will grow together to create a solid mass of gorgeous long lived foliage. Chinese Ginger (Asarum Splendens) this one is easily one of the showiest groundcovers to be found anywhere. Has 6 inch dark green arrow shaped leaves that are strikingly marbled with silver. The variegation of this plant leaps out from the dark! Grows best in woodland conditions, with considerable shade in well drained acidic soil amended with humus. "Wild Ginger" (Asarum canadense) is a beautiful 6 inch native groundcover, with large kidney shaped leaves. Is a nice dense groundcover that quickly fills an open space in any shady location. Is deciduous, but comes up early in spring, and lingers well into winter. Just an easy carefree shade groundcover, but does need humus in soil. Plants in 6 inch pots $5.00 each. 3 or more $4.00 each. Iris cristata "The Dwarf Crested Iris" is a wonderful ground cover for a
woodland setting. It has incredible baby blue flowers just above the 6 inch
foliage in spring ( A spectacular carpet of blue) An easy, drought tolerant
perennial, that prefers a lean soil, use preferably a organic fertilizer.
Plant high or at ground level. Once established weeds won't grow in it.
Naturalizes easily, and in just a few years will make a nice bed. The only
Iris to thrive in shade and the only Iris to spread like a ground cover. Sun

Plumbago "Leadwort" (Cerstostigma Plumbaginoides) is a very easy & beautiful groundcover for late summer blue color. Leadwort has intense blue flowers & glossy green foliage for a sunny or partial shade spot. Completely maintenance free, needs no watering or feeding. Will naturalize & live on its own for years. Mentha spicate "Chocolate Mint" is a wonderful herb. Has a scent reminiscent of a Andes after diner mint. Makes a nice addition to chocolate
deserts or breakfast breads. We grow it in large Terra cot ti pots to make homemade mint tea in summer months. The foliage is much more attractive
then regular mint having dark shiny leaves, and much more shade tolerant. Makes a superb naturalized groundcover where it has room to spread.
Looks great in containers, but should be sheared often to keep attractive. Mint is great for upset stomach, heartburn, a sprig sweetens breath and makes a lovely garnish on your diner plate. Plants in 6 inch pots $5.00 each 3 or more $4.00.each.. Zones 4-9

In this picture is two great native perennial flowers. First is Foam Flower (Tiarella Cordifolia) a mounding native ground cover with spectacular foamy white flower stalks in spring. Has very attractive maple like leaves that turn a nice red color in fall. Looks good under tall trees. Easy, non aggressive, very shade tolerant groundocver. Can't have swampy soil in winter. Currently Unavailable The other perennial is Violet Viola (Labradorica) is a choice slow groundcover with unique purple foliage. The flowers are breath taking against the dark foliage. Variegated Pachysandra "Silver Edge" is a wonderful carefree, year round EASY groundcover. Any soil type, sun to deep shade. Just brightens up a dark shady spot. (Especially in winter) Looks just as nice in January as it does in June. A choice slow growing plant, deer resistant & maintenance free. Is not aggressive, like the green form. | Sedum rupestre " Angelina " is a terrific low EVERGREEN groundcover
for a sunny area with poor dry soil . It has succulent golden yellow
leaves and clusters of yellow starry flowers in mid -summer. Angelina is
superlative in containers or on a wall where it develops a beautiful
cascading habit. She holds her color through the heat of summer with
electrifying golden yellow foliage. It often develops amber tones of
orange & red in Autumn and winter. One of the few front of the border
plants that looks gorgeous YEAR ROUND ! It is deer resistant and
attractive to butterflies. Grows 6 to 10 inches in height in sun or bright
shade. A fantastic quick growing groundcover but does require a well
drained soil. Will not survive in soggy winter soil. The perfect plant
