our Groundcovers

"Black Mondo Grass" (Ophiopogon nigrescens) is one of the most attractive evergreen groundcovers for year round interest. Lovely pink blooms in June, are followed by shiny black berries that complement the foliage. Makes a great border edge, or mass planting. Grows in sun or even in dense shade, drought tolerant, & even does fine with root competition. We plant it intermixed with purple & yellow crocus, the flowers are breathtaking against the black foliage, & by mid summer the crocus foliage has disappeared into the black grass. A choice slow growing groundcover that just improves with age, & is even deer resistant. Plants in 6 inch pots $5.00 each, three or more $4.00 each. Zones 5 with protection through 8.
